Nature of consultancy assignments undertaken by CBIP:


A.  
  1. Monitoring of Pilot project for energy conservation – installation of LT Switched capacitor banks in AP (Engineering Stall College of India, Hyderabad)

The Project work awarded by REC to CBIP in 1994 at a consultation fee of Rs. 3.00 lac lump sum and the work was completed in 1999.
   
B.   Rajasthan State Electricity Board requested CBIP for the consultancy assistance for arranging expeditious completion of their erection works of 33 kV Switchgear and other works at Parwan Life Irrigation Scheme at Baran near Kota.

The Project’s implementation was commenced quite a few years ago. There were delays for want of integration of various design and contractual obligations. The CBIP took up the project in hand and arranged for completion of balance work. The project of Parwan Lift Irrigation Scheme, District Baran, Kota was inaugurated successfully on September 11, 1998 by the Hon’ble Irrigation Minister, Rajasthan, Shri V.P. Singh Badnaur.
   
C.   Andhra Pradesh Energy Efficiency Project – Hyderabad Urban SCADA Project, SACFA Clearances

This project was commenced in the year 1999 with an envisaged cost of Rs. 16.00 lakhs and completed in 2000.
   
D.  SACFA Clearances for Tamilnadu Electricity Board SCADA Project

This project was commenced in the year 1999 with an envisaged cost of Rs. 15,90,000/- lakhs and completed in 2000.
   
E.   Project title; Study for Establishment of Model Distribution Management System in Nehru Place District of Delhi Vidyut Board:

This project is for studying the existing sub-transmission and distribution system in the Nehru Place District of Delhi Vidyut Board and consists of the following main activities:

  1. Implementation of energy revenue monitoring system and customer interface
  2. Implementation of technical loss evaluation and proposals for revamping the system
  3. Remote monitoring on trial basis including communication
  4. Sample survey and analysis
  5. Data processing/stimulation studies and analysis of results

This project was awarded by DVB to CBIP in June 2001 and scheduled to be completed within nine months period. The funding for the same is through Power Finance Corporation. The total cost of the project is Rs.87.00 lakh.
   
F.   Prototype Inspection of and testing of double circuit 132 kV towers

Western Power Corporation (WPC), Australia requested Central Board of Irrigation & Power for the Consultancy assistance for Prototype inspection of tower/Leg Extensions and Testing of four different type of towers for 132 kV D/C Pinjar - Eneabba Transmission Line at Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd., Gandhinagar.

The Project’s implementation was taken up in July - August 2002. The works consists of:

  1. Study of Standards of the Country for tower testing, Purchaser’s specifications in respect of Tower testing requirements, Structural drawings of the concerned tower submitted by the supplier in connection with prototype inspection, Loading diagrams, rigging diagrams etc.


  2. Pre-test checking of the Prototype tower assembly, report of the material and bolts/nuts used in tower, rigging arrangement and location of load cells at the test bed and calibration of all the load cells used for the tower test.


  3. Guiding and witnessing the tests on the Prototype tower and preparation of test report.


  4. The Western Power Corporation, Australia requested Central Board of Irrigation and Power to act as witness during testing of tower. In doing so, it has extensively utilized the services of retired eminent expert from the relevant disciplines from the state of Uttar Pradesh.
   
G.  
    Identification of 7 or 8 techno-economically attractive Hydro Projects of Uttaranchal State and other good Hydro Schemes having an installed capacity of about 100-150 MW and above


    1. Central Board of Irrigation and Power was awarded the consultancy work by M/s. Tata Power Company for identification of 7 or 8 techno-economically attractive Hydro Projects of Uttaranchal State and other good Hydro Schemes having an installed capacity of about 100-150 MW and above.


    2. This project was successfully completed within stipulated time of 3 months and the report of the project covering salient features of the identified project(s) such as type of scheme, location and approach, installed capacity, head and brief of water conductor system etc. including location map and photographs of the project components collected by the CBIP team who visited a few projects to firm up the project features, was handed over to Tata Power Company.

   
H.   “Creation of All India Computerized data base of Power Sector Specialists”

  1. Central Power Research Institute, Bangalore has been awarded a research project titled, “Creation of All India Computerized data base of Power Sector Specialists” by Ministry of Power for preparing a consolidated data bank for Power Sector Specialists available in the country with the assistance of Central Board of Irrigation and Power, New Delhi in December 2006.


  2. The details of about 632 experts / specialists in the area of Planning/Designs / Manufacturing/Execution/Maintenance and R&M/R&D/ Contracts/ Operation/Non Conventional / Nuclear / Hydro {Turbine/Generator} / Thermal {Turbine/Generator} / Transmission/Distribution / Material Science & Insulation were collected.


  3. The work on this project has already been completed and report submitted to CPRI, Bangalore in December 2007.
   
   
   
  ON GOING CONSULTANCY PROJECTS

Ministry of Renewable Energy and IREDA has proposed to engage CBIP for promotion of renewable energy sources.

The jobs includes -


  1. Development of composite web site


  2. Collection, compilation of information and data relating to existing /under construction and planned projects including their generation data.


  3. Collection of information relating to policy & Regulatory issues, incentives and subsidies for investment promotion


  4. Organisation of conferences, training and bringing out publications etc.
