About CBIP

The Central Board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP) is an autonomous, non-governmental, Engineering/Scientific Professional Organisation of which the Central/State Government Organisations, State Water Resources Departments, State Electricity Boards, Public & Private Sector Organisations are constituent members; and Irrigation & Power Research Stations, Water and Land Management Institutes, Libraries, Consultancy firms, Mining Organisations, Engineering & Contract Organisations, Power Utilities, Project Authorities, Educational Institutions, Private Companies & Firms etc are Subscribing members.

Services Rendered

The Board, since its inception has rendered dedicated service to the Engineering Community World over in general and of India in particular in promoting Research & Development in Water Resources. Energy and Allied Disciplines. It has a track record of dissemination of technical Information to engineering community on technical developments in India and abroad through its technological information dissemination programmme of conferences, symposia, seminars, workshops, Research & Development Sessions etc. and also through its technical publications which are well received in India & abroad.

Gateway To International Organisations

The CBIP also acts as the Indian National Committee for almost all major International Organizations like:
  1. International Conference on Large High Voltage Electric Systems (CIGRE),
  2. International Conference on Electricity Distribution (CIRED ),
  3. International Water Resources Association (IWRA),
  4. International Association for Hydraulic Research (IAHR),
  5. International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM ),
  6. International Tunneling Association (ITA),
  7. International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD ) etc.

The Board maintains close liaison with these bodies and keeps its members informed of the various activities of these Organisations to enable them to update their knowledge of technological advances world over.

Information Exchange

Since its inception the Board has been a witness to the phenomenal contribution of the Indian Engineering and Scientists of the State/Public/Private Sector Organisations for the technological achievements in investigating, design, construction, operation and maintenance of Water Resources and Energy Projects. The Board has been transmitting these contributions to the Engineering Community in India and abroad through its fora, publications and periodicals and thus establishing multidisciplinary interaction & rapport to achieve greater heights of professional excellence.

Why CBIP ?

With the policy of liberalisation and opening of economy, Privitisation of Construction and Industrial Activities is in the focus. This calls for fruitful interaction of public and private sectors with users and consumers with regard to Research and Development aspects and products/services development and deployment.

In order to achieve such interaction and rapport, it is imperative that all States/Public/Private Sector Organisations come together and deliberate on issues of mutual interest through the fora of this Board.

Therefore, the Board cordially invites you to become a subscribing member of the Board. The Board is Committed to bring about effective dissemination of technological information and interaction amongst the Engineering fraternity of Central & State Government Organisations as well as Public Sector Organisations with Private Sector Organisations and Industrial Establishment for mutual benefit.
